The son of a Pentecostal preacher, Yahweh ben Yahweh was born Hulon Mitchell Jr. in Oklahoma in 1935. After serving in the military and attending law school, Mitchell moved to Atlanta in the mid-1960s and joined the Nation of Islam, becoming Hulon X.
Nation of Yahweh members refer to themselves as the tribe of Judah (not to be confused with the Nation of Islam’s lost tribe of Shabazz).
The Assemblies of Yahweh has two educational institutions located in Bethel, Pennsylvania, Obadiah School of the Bible and Dalet School. Begun in 1973 as Obadiah Assembly, a class concentrating on public speaking, Obadiah School has continued to grow and today has an extensive biblical curriculum.
The three men are Yisrayl and Shaul Hawkins--both from Texas, and David Hawkins from Wisconsin. All three call themselves Elders of the House of Yahweh, an organization they founded in 1982, which is based upon strict observance of all the laws of Noah. They claim to have 10,000 members today.
Congregation of Yahweh is not a corporate entity or an established church with SOP’s, guidelines or rules. We are a congregation of like minded Sabbath keepers who share common beliefs in that we believe we must keep the Law of the Old Testament and the Testimonies of our Messiah.
