There is a resident pod of grey whales which makes its home off Depoe Bay from March through December. Visitors from everywhere come to whale watch either from the new Whale Watch Center, the many shore observation spots or you can take a charter out for a closer look.
What is baleen? There are 14 species of baleen whale including the blue, bowhead, right, humpback, minke and grey whale. Baleen whales are generally larger than toothed whales except for the sperm whale which is very big and has teeth.

The global population of white whales is not accurately known, but adding the numbers from all of the various stocks results in a figure of about 200,000 animals. The number of white whales is Svalbard is not known, but they are the most numerous cetacean species in the area and also the most commonly observed whale.

For five decades, ACS has been dedicated to bringing education, current research, and critical conservation issues to people who care about cetaceans and the habitats on which they depend.
