Since Chris Oliviero, who oversees WFAN for its parent company, Audacy, and FAN vice president Spike Eskin took over, the station has had a complete makeover. Oliviero returned to the station in May of last year, which foretold Carton’s comeback after he was released from prison.
Its 50,000- watt clear channel signal can be heard at night throughout much of the eastern United States and Canada. WFAN is also heard on WFAN-FM (101.9 FM).
(The WFAN call sign was suggested by the wife of The Fan’s first program director, John Chanin.) The first live voice heard on WFAN was that of Suzyn Waldman, with a sports update, followed by the first show, which was hosted by Jim Lampley.
