Start your review of Masala Wok. Honesty y’all,I can’t get enough of this spot. Been coming here for years now and always get the same items. My friends say the foods not authentic. I’ve tried authentic spots like this but the flavors are just a bit different. Definitely must recommend Yes, it’s a chain.
The masala fries were a tasty calorie bomb. Even the Thai food I prefer to Thai restaurants in Houston (though that’s more a reflection of Thai food in Houston than MW’s quality). The default is savory, rather than spicy, but you can order food to be much hotter. My one takeout complaint is that you have to order naan and/or rice with everything.
The tikka Masala is thick instead of watery. The chicken 65 is great. The naan is non-authentic instead of authentic naan, but if you can accept that, it’s quite good for what it is. (The garlic naan is VERY garlicky.)
Crush the fennel seeds, carrom seeds and nigella seeds together without dry roasting them to make the special A-1 samosa masala. Also crush the fresh coriander seeds without roasting them to a fine powder. For the potato filling, heat some oil in a pan. Add in the asafoetida, and a pinch of whole cumin seeds.
