In 1985 he opened Stelle Architects on the east end of Long Island. Mr. Stelle shares the design and administrative responsibilities with his partners and collaborates on project design. He is a member of the Peconic Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Since 2010 he has served on the advisory board of the Syracuse University School of Architecture where he has been a visiting critic.
A long time conservationist, Mr. Stelle is a trustee of the Long Island Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. An avid outdoor person he is a sailor, a pilot, and a passionate steward of the communities in which he lives. Michael Lomont joined the firm in 1999 and has been a partner with Stelle Lomont Rouhani Architects since its inception in 2012.
