Change the OUTPUT to Inches and select Apply. The dimension changes to the specified output unit. When you change Document Properties, that is changing properties to the current drawing you are working on. If you would like the change to be global, update the Default Properties and each document in the SOLIDWORKS COMPOSER application.
In addition, SOLIDWORKS Imperial Dimensions can be shown in the form of feet and inches. To activate this capability, the same path as before should be taken but units must be set to ‘ feet & inches’ and then under more the Convert from 2′ and 4″ must be checked off.
Of course, this functionality is by no means new to SOLIDWORKS, nor should it come as a surprise to most users. However, sometimes, it is nice to show all the dimensions for all the features in a part. This is not as commonly known as you might think. Why show feature dimensions?
