Assumption Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate was established in Canada on August 22, 1956. Our roots and origin are in St. Mary’s Province. Our principal ministry is among the old and new Canadians of Polish descent.
Explore our Province here. There are currently 16 Oblates ministering in China and Hong Kong. Similarly to Australia, they work in parishes, schools, with the youth and the homeless, but also in a variety of other capacities as well. They go wherever the mission leads them.
We are called to be partners with the Oblates in serving the poor through our prayers, finances and participation in missionary activities. Missionary Oblates serve in many parishes across Canada, including Northern Canada.
Missionaries of Provence. The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) is a missionary religious congregation in the Catholic Church. It was founded on January 25, 1816, by Saint Eugène de Mazenod, a French priest born in Aix-en-Provence in the south of France on August 1, 1782.
The Oblates’ mission is to preach the Good News of salvation. They celebrate the sacraments, feed and shelter the poor, care for the orphaned, nurture the sick and elderly.
