File a claim with Lost and Found. If the local MTA representative didn’t have it, you should file a claim with Lost and Found. You can file a claim in two ways: File a claim using our online system (preferred). Call us at 511.
Metro Lost and Found staff members are available via telephone to provide assistance Monday through Friday from 9 am - 5 pm by calling 202-962-1195. The Lost and Found Office is closed on weekends and federal holidays. You will only be contacted if a match is found for your item.
All MTA Metro-North employees are responsible for taking reasonable measures to ensure that articles left behind by customers are secured and placed in non-public area before it eventually reaches the Lost & Found Facility in Grand Central Terminal.
Metro-North Railroad Lost and Found Nearly 20,000 items are turned into Metro-North’s Lost & Found Facility every year. We have established a Lost and Found process that is designed to recover and return as many items as possible to our customers. This process involves several steps that must take place, and requires your cooperation and patience.
