How to register a microchip
Although there is no universally agreed upon location, a dog microchip is usually implanted between the shoulder blades . At approximately 12mm long, it is about the same size as a grain of rice. When performed by a veterinary professional, implanting a dog microchip takes a few seconds and is relatively painless.
The most important reason for microchipping is to enable a lost or straying dog to be returned to its owner as quickly as possible. Identifying owners who persistently allow their dog to stray or cause nuisance.
Microchip Lookup. This lookup tool is a DEFRA regulation requirement. It will not provide any ownership details, just a confirmation of which database(s) a microchip number is registered to.
