The event was first run in 1995, as the Comet Chase, and its distance was originally set at 2 miles and 3½ furlongs (3,923 metres). This was modified slightly when the race was temporarily switched to Lingfield Park, and also upon its return to Ascot in 2007.
The first major race meetings with tote betting were the flat race meetings at Newmarket (July Course) and Carlisle on 2 July 1929.
At a special meeting Monday (Aug. 23) the Arizona Racing Commission approved Turf Paradise’s 2021-2022 race dates. The vote was 3-0. The 125-day live meet will run from November 5 thru May 7, 2022. Racing will be conducted on a 5-day a week basis, Monday thru Thursday and Saturday.
Penn National Race Course is located in Grantville, Pennsylvania, 17 miles east of Harrisburg, PA. The track opened its doors for racing on August 30 1972. Penn National is owned and operated by Penn National Gaming and is one of the few horse racing facilities in the United States that offers year round live horse racing.
Hazel Park Raceway opened its doors on August 17, 1949 with its first thoroughbred meet and the first harness meet was held in the spring of 1953. The track was maintained as a dual-breed facility from 1949 through 1984. From 1985 to May 2014, Hazel Park was exclusive to live harness racing.
