On April 28th, MCEDV joined with members of Maine’s Domestic Abuse Homicide Review Panel at a virtual press event to present the Panel’s 13th Biennial Report. In addition to reviewing cases from the last two years, the Report includes a 20-year lookback at domestic abuse homicide in Maine.
At least three people were located and taken into custody following a joint homicide investigation between the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. NCSO: Nye County Sheriff’s Office Deputies executed a search warrant on a home as part of a homicide investigation which began on Sunday, Aug. 1.
The Detective Division’s Investigative Unit / Detective Bureau is composed of two Police Sergeants, nine Detectives, and two non-sworn support staff. Detectives hold the responsibility of following up with investigations of both criminal and non-criminal matters. Investigations can range in nature from suspicious incidents to serious felonies.
Because data is collected from multiple sources, these reports are generally released 2 years after the calendar year in which homicides were perpetrated. Fact sheets can be found on the NC Health and Human Resources website.
The NC DPS analyzes these reports and releases a summary report each year providing statewide statistics on domestic violence and family violence homicides. Those Domestic Violence Homicide reports are available on NC DPS website.
