Bike ’n Hike is our main annual fundraising event. As well as being a great day out, by getting people to sponsor you, you raise essential funds to help repair local churches and chapels which are such important places for their communities.
Experienced day hikers and well-prepared moderate hikers. The scramble at the summit is a thrill if you’re ready for it, and the steady elevation gain makes the hike a great workout. Both of these factors make Hunger less forgiving to unprepared hikers. This hike is all about attitude.

The normal hiking season is from June through November. Access to the wilderness can be gained in early spring along the Wenaha River near Troy, Oregon. Many higher elevation trail heads remain inaccessible through June. Most trails descend sharply into the rugged river canyons of the Wenaha and Tucannon Rivers and their tributaries.
You can surely admire the nature of the Cartecay by land as well! The 3.4-mile Cartecay River Loop Trail is a popular, easy-to-moderate hike accessible year-round, even to dogs! The trail parallels the river for a large portion of the route, with a few points of somewhat steep elevation change.
