Bracero Agreement On July 1942 the Bracero Program was established by executive order. It was enacted into Public Law 78 in 1951. The agreement was expected to be a temporary effort, lasting presumably for the duration of the war. The Bracero program was not terminated until December 1, 1964-more than nineteen years after the end of World War II.
