Bullying Facts and Statistics 20% of students in the United States grades 9-12 experienced bullying or are being bullied. 28% of students in the United States grades 6-12 experienced bullying or are being bullied. 60% of middle schoolers say they’ve being bullied, while only 16% of the school staff believe that students are bullied.
About 36 percent of middle school students reported being bullied, compared to 25.8 percent of high school students. Twenty-eight percent of freshmen were bullied at least once during the school year compared to 1 in 5 seniors.
Children and teens may be picked on, ostracized, publicly humiliated, or targeted in a number of different ways by their peers at school. The statistics on exactly how many kids are bullied—and how often it occurs—vary greatly. Studies have found that anywhere between 9 percent and 98 percent of students have been bullied.
Verbal bullying includes name calling , insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist remarks, or verbal abuse.
