Call Before You Dig | Wisconsin Public Service Call before you dig No matter where you live, the gas, electric, cable TV, water and sewer lines that serve you may be underground. If you are planning a project that involves digging, state law requires you to notify Diggers Hotline or MISS DIG at least three working days in advance.
811 is the phone number you call before digging to protect yourself and others from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines.
811 is the national call-before-you-dig phone number. Anyone who plans to dig should call 811 or go to their state 811 center’s website a few business days before digging to request that the approximate location of buried utilities be marked with paint or flags so that you don’t unintentionally dig into an underground utility line.
811 is the national “Call Before You Dig” phone number. It was created to help prevent people from coming into contact with underground utility lines during digging projects. Contact with lines can mean shock, injury or even death. The first step in safe digging is to Call 811.
Member Utilities. Call Before You Dig is a FREE service to anyone excavating within the state of Connecticut. It is the LAW. Call Before You Dig service enables excavators to obtain information on the location of underground utility pipes and cables in the area of the proposed work site.
