For starters, they let us chill at our table for two and a half hours, even though we were eating relatively light -- perhaps it was just a slow weeknight, but it doesn't happen too often in "chic" joints like this. We had four of the "small plates" and they were all good.

    We were seated at a long picnic table enough to seat 4 or 5 on each side, with added seats at each end. Drink prices were pretty comparable for the neighborhood. Bar Avec is a place to hold a strong drink in hand, surround yourself with your people, and have the epic city of Chicago in the backdrop.

    If you’ve been to Avec, you’ll love Bar Avec! Great wine, same great food (especially the bacon wrapped dates) but with a VIEW! The ambiance is great here during the day and evening. Can be social turnup or even romantic date. Views of river north and the loop are some of the best around.

    Unless you sat at one of their outdoor tables. Avec was a truly amazing experience. They have communal tables you can share and some outdoor and bar seating. We were able to walk in on Friday night and got a table almost immediately. It was pretty loud though, so not a place to have a deep conversation.
